New report on tech giants and digital infrastructure from the government’s expert group

On December 12th, the government’s expert group on tech giants launched their third report.

The report addresses how the digital infrastructure should be designed to reduce the risk of over-reliance on the services of tech giants.

The expert group presents seven principles that should be considered when making decisions in the digital domain:

  1. There must be an overview of the tech giants’ influence on digital infrastructure.
  2. Data should be made accessible in ways that benefit and strengthen individuals and future society.
  3. Alternatives to the tech giants’ services must be able to emerge and scale up.
  4. No one should be forced to use the tech giants’ services to access information or participate in social, cultural, and democratic communities.
  5. The public sector must not be dependent on the tech giants’ services.
  6. Danish educational institutions must be free from commercial tech giants.
  7. The tech giants’ platforms must be safe places to do business.

The third report marks the expert group’s final task.
