Ursula Plesner: Blind spots in the digitalized organization

A lack of awareness – and language – for invisible work related to digitalization has unfortunate consequences in many organizations.

“New digital technologies can serve as tools for efficiency and cost savings. However, we often fail to recognize the additional work that comes with them. The invisible digital labor is not just confined to a specific implementation phase but is a permanent condition in the digital organization,” writes Ursula Plesner, Associate Professor & Ph.D., in a column for Ugebrevet Mandag Morgen.

Ursula Plesner has participated in a research project on invisible digital labor: a myriad of small and large work processes that are essential for making digital solutions function but are not always considered ‘real’ work.
