But since the spring, the Danish Language Model Consortium has been working on developing a Danish language model as an alternative to foreign tools. Additionally, several initiatives are underway to create smaller language models based on Danish content. These various Danish language models all have the potential to create important digital infrastructure, protect Danish values, and offer greater control over the data used to train the models. But what will it take to succeed – and can a Danish alternative compete with foreign competitors?
