Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Algorithms Are Becoming Increasingly Integrated into Our Daily Lives and Work.
From hiring processes and healthcare to the legal system and our digital conversations, AI is playing an ever-growing role. While there are many valuable use cases where AI creates significant benefits, it is crucial to emphasize that these technologies are not neutral. They learn from the data we feed them. And since this data contains biases—such as prejudices or stereotypical perceptions—the technology tends to amplify them rather than correct them.
We have seen, for example, that AI systems can perpetuate and even exacerbate social inequalities in areas like job recruitment, credit assessment, and various decision-making processes. We may also inadvertently reinforce these biases in our own work with AI, for instance, through tools like ChatGPT.
But how should we understand bias in AI and other digital systems? How can we avoid unconsciously reinforcing these biases in our work with AI? And is it even possible to develop and use technology in a way that is fairer? These are the questions you will be equipped to understand after today’s webinar.
