The REPAI project (Responsible AI for Value Creation), in collaboration with the think tank Mandag Morgen, presented a selection of results from a survey on the opportunities and barriers of artificial intelligence in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on Wednesday, May 7.
A brief glimpse into the analysis reveals that SMEs themselves report a lack of AI competencies both at the management and employee level—51 percent on the management side and 74 percent among employees. 66 percent of Danish SMEs use AI, but for the vast majority, this is in a very limited scope, primarily for text generation, administration, and marketing. 49 percent of SMEs have considered the ethical aspects of AI, while 32 percent lack an overview of the relevant legislation. Only 31 percent of the companies have a clear strategy for using AI and have clearly defined internal roles and responsibilities related to AI.
Participating in the debate and providing perspectives on the results were Julie Borup from Per Borup Design, Mette Gyde Møller from DI – Confederation of Danish Industry, Jesper Beinov from SMVdanmark, Flemming H. Grønsund from the Danish Trade Union Confederation, and Lars Frederiksen, professor at Aarhus University.
